The Final Rolls of Citizens and Freedmen of the Five Civilized
Tribes (National Archives Microfilm Publications, Microcopy
T529). Arranged according to Indians by blood, freedmen, minor and
newborn (both Indian and freedman), the rolls list roll number, age,
sex, blood quantum, position in the family, and census card number. Index
and Final Rolls also appears as the first roll of National
Archives Microfilm Publications, Microcopy M1186.
Enrollment Cards for the Five Civilized Tribes, 1898-1914
(National Archives Microflim Publications M11186). The enrollment
cards for those admitted to the tribal rolls provide much valuable
information: name of each family member, age, family relationship,
sex, tribal enrollment of parents, owners' names of former slaves,
names of parents, parents' owners if they were slaves, other rolls
on which their names appear, aliases or changes in names. There are
also cards for rejected applicants that yield the same kinds of
information.
Index to Choctaw "Doubtful" and "Rejected"
Enrollment Cards. 1899-1907 (National Archives-Southwest Region,
Film 7RA147). The index is arranged according to category (Choctaw
by blood, freedmen, etc.) and lists name, card number, and, at
times, roll number.
Indexes to Applicants (National Archives-Southwest Region)
This is an index to applicants for enollment under acts of Congress
between 1900 and 1906.
Lists of Pending Applicants. 1902-1905 (National
Archives-Southwest Region) There is a separate list for freedmen,
arranged by number of enrollment card; the list is indexed. Some
entries include age and sex.
Applications to Change from Freedmen to Citizens by Blood.
1905-1907 (National Archives-Southwest Region) This file, arranged
numerically by case number, contains much information about family
histories and relationships.
Choctaw-Chickasaw Memoranda Cases (National Archives
Microfilm Publications, Microcopy 1301). The cases are arranged
numerically, but an index is included. The applications include such
items as birth records, testimony transcripts, and correspondence.
All cases were rejected for failure to file on time.
Hastain, E. Index to Choctaw-Chickasaw Deeds and Allotments.
Muskogee: E. Hastain, 1908. Freedmen allotments are listed by name,
tribal affiliation, roll number, and location of allotment.
Office of Indian Affairs. Other Records Relating to Enrollment of
the Five Civilized Tribes. Rolls of Choctaw Freedmen. 1885.
(National Archives). These rolls, arranged by district, contain
lists of freedmen admitted to Choctaw citizenship as well as those
listed as doubtful. Entries list name, position in the family,
nationality of parents, former master's name, acres cultivated,
livestock (cattle, horses and mules, hogs, sheep, and goats).
Chickasaw Volume 83 (Oklahoma Historical Society). Though
labeled a Chickasaw record, this volume is the minutes of the
Choctaw enrolling commission (1885) in Goodland, Caddo, Boggy Depot,
and First District, Choctaw Nation. Information for applicants
varies but often includes such details as aliases, family
relationships, names of former owners, acres improved, and livestock
owned.
Choctaw Freedman Census, First District, 1885 (Choctaw Volume
343) (Oklahoma Historical Society, Film CTN7). This census
records head of family, wife and children, nationality of parents,
and former owner.
Roll of Freedmen Who Elected to Leave the Nation, 1885-1886,
First District (Choctaw Volume 355) (Oklahoma Historical
Society, Film CTN7). This census lists the same information as that
above.
Freedmen Whose Title to Citizenship Is Doubtful, Red River
County, 1885 (Choctaw Volume 355) (Oklahoma Historical Society,
Film CTN7). This census lists names, children, and former owner.

This census lists the same information as that above.

adult, age, marital status, and other information.
1896 Census of Freedmen, Eagle County (Choctaw Volume 456)
(Oklahoma Historical Society, Film CTN7). This census lists name of
adult, age, sex, and marital status.
1896 Census of Freedmen, Kiamichi County (Choctaw Volume 464)
(Oklahoma Historical Society, Film CTN7). This census lists the same
information as that above.

1896 Census of Freedmen, Skullyville, San Bois and Tobucksy
Counties (Choctaw Volume 482) (Oklahoma Historical Society, Film
CTN7). Freedmen are listed by families with names and ages.
1896 Census of Freedmen, Towson County (Choctaw Volume 477)
(Oklahoma Historical Society, Film CTN7). This census lists adults
and some children, with age, sex, and marital status.
1896 Census of Freedmen, Wade County (Choctaw Volume 479)
(Oklahoma Historical Society, Film CTN7). Names are arranged by
family, with age, sex, and marital status.
Freedmen Admitted to Citizenship, Third Judicial District, 1897
(Choctaw Volume 382) (Oklahoma Historical Society, Film CTN7).
This record includes the census of Kiamichi, Jackson, Blue, Atoka,
and Jacks Forks Counties, listing both adults and children, with
age, nationality of parents, former owner and other information.
Records of the Dawes Commission (Oklahoma Historical Society,
Film DC 1-80). Rolls 57-64 of Film DC relate to the Choctaws.
However, much freedmen material is scattered throughout rolls 1-41.
