HISTORICAL NOTE

Stuart Youngman Hoahwah , a member of the Comanche Tribe of Oklahoma, grew up in southwestern Oklahoma and central Arkansas.  He earned a BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and did graduate work at Oklahoma State University.  His poetry has appeared in periodicals and anthologies.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COLLECTION

The Stuart Y. Hoahwah Collection consists of holograph and typescript versions of poems, prepublication and final versions of his chapbook Split, off prints of individual works, letters, information on the Hoahwah family, and Comanche cultural material..  Materials cover the period 1903-2003
