HISTORICAL NOTE
Nathan E. Bender is Housel Curator of the
McCracken Research Library and archivist of the Buffalo Bill
Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming. He was formerly librarian at
the Western History Collections at the University of Oklahoma and
head of special collections at the University of West Virginia and
at Montana State University. Bender is the author of
articles about the American West, orthographies for American
Indian languages, and Native publishing. He has also done
extensive bibliographic work regarding American Indian publishing
in the Northwest.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COLLECTION
The Nathan E. Bender Collection contains
correspondence; bibliographies of Native writing and publishing;
and publications of the Aggressive Christianity Missions Training
Corps. Materials cover the period of 1994 to 2001.
